If you look for adventure and like camping, this is your trip! Loved the camping atmosphere, being outside and the fire for cooking and tea. And finally we slept in the open air! The star sky is overwhelming and every time I woke up I had to look up. Amazing. The food was cooked on the fire for us and was healthy and super delicious. The kids loved the places we visited and the climbing on the rocks. All and all a great team!
The whole experience was fantastic. We would certainly recommend Wadi Rum Nomads. Our guide Habis had a great sense of humour and we really enjoyed his company and cooking!
I went on the 3 day jeep tour in wadi rum with Abdullh and it was amazing. He cooked and sang to us and we climbed up hills and saw plenty of animals in the desert. It was great to see the desert in spring blooming and all the baby animals. Sleeping under the stars was wonderful. I learned a lot of things while I was there and got to test myself. The time I spent was the best of the trip. I highly recommend going on a trip in the desert.
My husband and I did a 1 overnight sleep in a “cave” tour with Fawaz and Bianca in early December. This tour brought us to many beautiful sights in the desert via Jeep after we took a short camel trek to Lawrence’s Spring from the rest house. Fawaz and Bianca make you feel welcome and like friends. Fawaz is a fantastic cook, and we had our fill of traditional Bedouin lunch, dinner and breakfast. He plays music for you on his oud, and sings traditional Bedouin songs. The camping overnight in the cave was a great experience, and we were kept warm and comfortable with the mattress and blankets provided. This was definitely a highlight of our trip and recommend to anyone coming to Jordan.

After «Amman – City in Motion» this video about a part of the vast landscape of Wadi Rum is the second of four time lapse videos shot in Jordan this July. The whole project was shot and edited for the Jordan Tourism Board.
Some background: Shooting the desert in the mid of July was quite a challenge. It was very hot, even at night. And it was quite dusty. During the 2 days of shooting I’ve tried to capture images of the majestic rock formations but also people enjoying desert live for a glimpse of a few hours on a jeep trip or on the back of a camel. A highlight was the balloon trip shown at the end of the clip. I was lucky enough that weather conditions allowed a short flight with experienced balloon pilot Khaled Shishani and other passengers during my short stay. The opening scene was shot at around 2 pictures per second with a Canon G12 mounted on the roof of a car driving very slowly. Another scene shows a traditional beduin way to prepare meat in underground stove filmed at Captains Camp.
Equipment used for the Wadi Rum video: Canon 7D, Canon G12 and Panasonic GH2, a set of lenses, a GoPro 2 and two tripods. Rendered and edited in After Effects, Motion and Final Cut Pro X. Many of the time-lapse scenes were further accelerated in post. Blur effects all added in post (no tilt-shift lenses).
